The Shops At Sea Pines Center Food Truck Festival
On Friday afternoon, October 4th, twelve of the area’s best food trucks began to roll into the parking lot at The Shops at Sea Pines Center. What could be better than a great venue, great weather, great food trucks, great music, great shops and great people enjoying an evening out in Sea Pines? All of this and this to benefit one of Sea Pines’ best charities, Hilton Head Heroes. The event was sponsored by the Shops at Sea Pines Center, Heritage Classic Foundation, and RBC Wealth Management. The festival raised over $2500.00 for Hilton Head Hereos. It is evenings like this that make one proud to be a part of this great community.
The mission at Hilton Head Heroes is to bring families with children between the ages of four and eighteen suffering from life-threatening illnesses to Hilton Head for a resort vacation.
The families stay free of charge, in the Hilton Head HERO house located in Sea Pines. They are given gift certificates to local restaurants, grocery stores as well as island amenities.
Founded in 1998 by longtime island resident and family entertainer Gregg Russell and his wife Lindy, Hilton Head Heroes came from a desire to help very ill children and their entire family enjoy a vacation that would not be ordinarily possible. The program gives the family time to recharge and regroup as a family away from doctor visits and medical interventions.
Thanks to the merchants at The Shops at Sea Pines Center for hosting the event, the Heritage Academy for providing volunteers to help with parking, the Chilly Willy Band for the music, and all who attended to make this Food Truck Festival such a great success. This was a great way to spend a Friday night.
